Tonight you are
Leaves falling from the autumn sky.
Memories uncovering,
Moving slowly, holding you closely,
Doubts and certainties
Merging into one.

Tonight you are
The depth of the ocean,
And the shallows of the heart.
Thinking clearly, knowing simply,
The words and the silence
That surround us this time.

Tonight you are
Snow floating across the winter night.
Fugitive dreams, unable to sleep,
A melody of whispers in the dark.
We are waves that rise and melt,
Submerged in this ocean,
Unraveling again.

Tonight you are
The love that I’ve kept,
Each kiss that remained hidden,
Protected, forgiven,
Belonging to the one that left.
Despite each relentless reason,
Fading through the seasons,
Together again.
