A Taste of Poetry

Only for a second

Only for a second
I dreamt that you were mine.
You felt like drops of rain
Falling slowly,
Both warm and sudden,
Whispering closely
Untold promises under the Southern sky.

Only for a second
I guessed what your lips taste like.
You felt like waves in the ocean
Flowing gently,
Playfully, relentlessly,
Navigating through the currents
That make me who I am.

Only for a second
There was nothing to hide.
You felt like a new poem,
Undiscovered, foreign,
Waiting to be written
Word by word, line by line.

Only for a second
I said your name, hoping I would find-
A stolen moment,
Ours, whole or broken,
Where our stars could align.
Promise me a kiss,
In your dreams or in mine.
