A Taste of Poetry
The poet’s quandary
The poet’s quandary begins
When the sunset fades and the night sets in,
At the fine line that stands between
What surrounds us
And what could have been.
The poet’s quandary consists
Of an ocean of memories interwoven with dreams,
A heart holding on to what used to be,
A whispering soul with a promise to keep,
A love that faces the toughest dilemma there is.
The poet’s quandary is to be
Always somewhere in between,
Loving deeply but never completely giving in,
Writing with the heart, but from the heart a secret keep:
Two souls that belong together
But that together, could never be.
The poet’s quandary is to reminisce and to wish,
Knowing that love is both wise and naïve,
That it yearns to belong but also to be free,
And that ultimately it feels
Exquisitely eternal, but invariably brief.
The poet’s quandary is whether to reveal
The convoluted love that burns within,
Or to just let it be
An autumn leaf lost in the wind…
Is to know that you loved me,
But had to set me free.
